1 Granny Smith apple – (peeled and grated just before you use it)
Instructions
Sift the flour and salt.
Add the sugar and rub in the butter until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and then add the milk, cinnamon, sultanas and freshly grated apple and work the mixture into a soft dough.
Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead lightly.
Press or roll the dough out to about ½ inch thick and then cut into desired shapes.
Place scones onto a lined baking tray and glaze the tops with milk.
Bake at 200 °C (400 °F) for 15 – 20 minutes.
Notes
I made 18 scones using a 5 cm (2 inch) round cutter.
