Nutty Anzac Slice Recipe
Serves: 20 – 24 (depending on slice size)
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1 cup of plain flour
- ¾ cup of sugar
- ¾ cup of desiccated coconut
- ½ cup of chopped walnuts
- 125g butter
- 2 tablespoons of golden syrup
- 1 level teaspoon of bi carb soda
- 3 tablespoon of boiling water
- Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F)
- Prepare an 8” x 12” x 1.5” slice tin by lining it with baking paper (leave some overlapping the sides so it is easier to get out after it is cooked).
- Combine oats, flour, sugar, coconut, and walnuts in a large mixing bowl and stir to combine.
- In a small saucepan heat butter and golden syrup over low heat and stir until butter is all melted.
- Combine bi carb soda and boiling water and add this to the butter mixture.
- Add butter mixture to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
- Press mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool in tin for 30 minutes before cutting into slices.
