Cool Vases from Everyday Objects

Last updated on: March 3, 2018 By Kaylene Filed Under: Craft, DIY, How To, Misc 1 Comment

Here are some ideas for cool vases made from everyday objects. Such as this pumpkin vase! thelinkssite.comI must say that when I have flowers I normally just get out a standard vase, fill it with water, and then plonk the flowers in. Making a vase doesn’t normally enter my mind! That is until now! I have discovered that there are lots of ways that you can make your own vases so that it is not just the flowers that are a focal point – but the vase is too!

When my mum recently told me that she was going to arrange some flowers, using a pumpkin as a vase, I was a bit sceptical. I could not even picture how this was even going to work. So when she showed me the finished product (above) I was really surprised.

The flowers arranged in a vase made from something unique looked wonderful.  And this really got me thinking about other everyday objects that could be used as or turned into vases. So I took to the internet to see what other clever ideas people had come up with to create their own vases. I am going to share a selection of ideas that I uncovered.

I collected Pinterest pins of recycled vase ideas and I will share my favourite pins. If you want more information on any of the vase ideas just click through the embedded pin and you will be taken to the original source via Pinterest.

Fruit and Vegetables as Vases

Well we have clearly established that a pumpkin can make a great vase, but what about other vegetables? The two pins below show that a watermelon and even apples can make great vases! I particularly like the apple idea because it looks very easy but is so effective!

Vases from Tired Items

The next two pins will definitely get me thinking before I throw away items that are past their best. They show that things like old jugs and even an old water cooler can be recycled to make a really neat looking vase.

Making a vase out of old gum boots also looks so clever! While the gum boots in this picture look pretty new, a pair of old gumboots would also look great. A pair of gumboots that the kids have grown out of would look so cute with flowers in them!

Vases from Rubbish!

It seems that nothing is off limits when it comes to making a vase. Even things that we might normally throw away as rubbish can be reused as vases. The four pins below show how cleverly cans, egg cartons, and light globes can be used as vases. These vases would all make a great talking point a dinner party if they were put out on the table.

Vase from a Book!

When I came across this book vase I knew I had to add it to this post! I just love this look!

I was so surprised at how good a flower arrangement can look when it is done in a unique vase made from everyday objects. It seems the old saying ‘your only limited by your imagination’ definitely applies here.

I hope that like me you are now inspired to look more carefully at everyday items to see if they can become beautiful vases!
