Fudgy Hedgehog Squares

Last updated on: December 16, 2021 By Kaylene Filed Under: Bars, Brownies & Slices, Candy, Recipes Leave a Comment

3 Rows of hedgehog squares are lined up on a piece of baking paper. Part of a white plate with more squares can be seen in the background.

You are going to love this recipe for Fudgy Hedgehog Squares. It’s got all the flavour of hedgehog with less work! All you need is one bowl and 5 ingredients! Hedgehog is a classic Australian recipe. It is usually made as a slice and consists of a chocolaty later that is packed with crushed biscuits, coconut, and walnuts. That delicious layer is then topped with a layer of melted chocolate. Why call these Fudgy Hedgehog Squares? I got the idea to make something like hedgehog when I was looking … [Read more...]

Cranberry Almond Chocolate Clusters

Last updated on: March 14, 2021 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes Leave a Comment

Several chocolate clusters are arranged on a piece of baking papers with dried cranberries and almonds scattered around them.

These chocolate clusters are packed with yummy dried cranberries and crunchy almonds and smothered in rich dark chocolate. We’ve been buying a block of fruit and nut dark chocolate that contains cranberries and almonds for some time now. It’s very popular around here so there’s usually a block of it in our pantry most of the time! With Christmas fast approaching I decided to have a go at making some homemade chocolates. Naturally I thought I’d incorporate cranberries and almonds seeing we … [Read more...]

2 Ingredient Dark Chocolate Coconut Bark

Last updated on: May 20, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes, Snacks Leave a Comment

Broken up pieces of chocolate bark topped with coconut flakes on a wooden board. In the background there is a glass bowl filled with more chocolate bark.

This delicious 2 ingredient coconut bark is one of the most addictive snacks I have ever made! It is so hard not to keep going back for ‘just one more piece’ – it doesn’t last long in our house! Last year a member of my family was diagnosed with a sulphite allergy. For those who don’t know, sulphites are used as a preservative in a range of products ranging from wine to dried fruits. Lately we’ve been trying to eliminate all sulphite containing products from our pantry. I like to use … [Read more...]

2 Ingredient Fudge Recipe (Made 3 Ways!)

Last updated on: May 14, 2021 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes 2 Comments

Three types of fudge piled onto a white plate. Chocolate fudge in foreground, caramel fudge in the middle and choc caramel fudge in the background.

This 2 ingredient fudge is super quick and easy to make and you don’t need any sweetened condensed milk! Better still you can enjoy it in 3 flavours; caramel, chocolate, and choc caramel! This recipe was actually discovered by accident a few weeks ago.  It came about when I mixed some leftover melted white chocolate buttons with some Hershey’s caramel syrup. I put it in the fridge to set and I thought it would set hard. But to my surprise, once it was cold, it had set in a fudge-like … [Read more...]

Crunchy Nut Honey Joys with M&M’s!

Last updated on: October 27, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Christmas, Holidays & Special Occasions, Recipes Leave a Comment

It’s a while since I have eaten honey joys; they used to be one of my favourite snacks as a kid! We didn’t have them all the time, but at birthday’s and school fetes they always made an appearance. Honey joys are a delicious sweet, crunchy treat and they are also quick and easy to make. Regular honey joys are made with plain Cornflakes but I decided to use Crunchy Nut Cornflakes just to give them a subtle twist. Traditionally honey joys don’t have any chocolate in them either. But I wanted … [Read more...]

Easy Nutty Microwave Fudge

Last updated on: December 20, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes Leave a Comment

This Nutty Microwave Fudge is so simple to make. I used peanuts to get a yummy Snickers like flavour but you could use whatever nuts you prefer! Last year I made a Marbled Chocolate Mint Fudge and I have been dying to make a nutty fudge ever since! I originally imagined making a chocolate fudge with walnuts, but when I finally got around to making this nutty microwave fudge I didn’t have enough walnuts! I did however have a bag of salted peanuts so I used them instead and I am very happy with … [Read more...]

Last updated on: February 23, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes 10 Comments

Squares of green and brown fudge on a white plate. A spoon, two dark green coffee mugs, and a blue and white check tea towel can be seen in the background.

This Marbled Chocolate Mint Fudge is just as delicious as it is pretty! It’s an easy microwave fudge recipe with a yummy green marbled mint layer! I am quite partial to a bit of choc mint flavour; I love choc mint ice cream! So when I saw this Marbled Mint Chocolate Fudge recipe on Pinterest I knew I had to make some. I actually found this recipe at the end of last year but I have been putting off making it because it sounded too complicated! I was going to make it for Christmas last year … [Read more...]
