Something that has to be done every year is cleaning out the gutters. While I have leaf screening mesh on the main house, I still have to clear leaves and debris out of the gutters on the sheds.
I usually climb a ladder and do it by hand but I thought I’d have a look online to see if anyone has any time saving tips for this tedious task.

I’m a little skeptical of the DIY gutter cleaning tool. There are some great tools out there, to be sure. But as I watched the video I noticed that the PVC pipe tool was not shaped well for a truly deep clean.
Nobody likes to think about gutters but they’re one of the most important parts of your house. They protect your foundation, your roof, and your windows, for starters. So cleaning them isn’t something to leave to chance or to home made tools. Either get a really good professional tool, clean them by hand, or have a pro do it for you.

Thanks for the comment Todd.
I personally clean my gutters by hand but I am open to using some sort of tool to make the job easier. If I can make a tool that will help me to get the bulk of the debris out of the gutters before thoroughly cleaning them then I think it is still worthwhile. I agree though that whatever the tool you use it is important to inspect the gutters afterwards to make sure that they have been cleaned properly.

I also believe this fact that gutter needs cleaning twice in a year because all the debris and leaves can create blockage and that will harm your home. Tool suggestion is good but I had never tried for the tool.

I agree with Andy that a twice a year cleaning is by far the best thing that I tell my customers. March and November using a medium powered pressure washer is what I recommend.

Thanks for your input Allen.
I personally need to use some sort of tool to remove larger debris but the use of a pressure washer after that is a good suggestion!

Thanks for the comment Donald. A pressure washer would be useful once large debris is removed.

For hard to reach areas you can take a garden rake and attach to a pvc pipe to pull leaves toward you for less effort.

Thanks for sharing this advice on cleaning the gutters! After a particularly heavy rainstorm last night, I want to make sure that my gutters aren’t clogged by leaves and debris. Hopefully I have time to clean them if they’re particularly clogged- I might have to find a professional service to clean them for me.

Thanks for stopping by Delores, I hope my information is helpful!

I think that it would be worth it to get one of those gutter cleaning tools. Ours are constantly getting filled with leaves because we have so many large trees around our home. It is really such a fire danger. Do you know about how much those tools cost?
