Don’t let annoying mosquitoes disrupt you sleep in the summer. Try using lavender spray to chase those annoying mosquitoes from the bedroom.
Technically we are at the end of summer and the mosquitoes will be dying off soon but I wanted to share a handy hint that I came across recently to help with annoying mozzies in the bedroom at night!
Hate it when you are really tired and just about to go off to sleep and then you hear the approaching buzz of a mosquito! You start off swatting at the thing but in the end you have to get up and go and get the fly spray! I really don’t like the thought of breathing in fly spray when I’m trying to sleep!
I realise that the best defence is prevention altogether but even with wire mesh screens on the windows and doors sometimes a couple of mozzies find their way in. I think they hitch hike on you back sometimes when you have been out the garden just before dark!
I was looking for natural mosquito repellents and found that mosquitoes don’t like the smell of lavender. That night I went hunting for our old bottle of lavender oil but I couldn’t find it so I went to the pharmacy the next day and bought some lavender spray.
It has been wonderful, at the first buzz of a mosquito I give one quick spray of lavender into the room and the mosquito disappears!
It is quite strong so I find that you don’t need very much, one short spray is plenty. You could even get into the habit of giving the room a spray just as you get into bed if you find that the mozzies are coming around every night. It has a pleasant smell and it also has the added benefit of being calming and helping with sleep. Plus because it is all natural it would be great for kids or babies rooms too!
You can also use the liquid lavender oil by putting a few drops on your pillow or a cloth near the bed.

I find that the lavender spray works really well because it gets the lavender smell out into the room quickly and the mozzies seem to disappear very fast. From now on I will be keeping a can of lavender spray in the bedroom over the summer months!
