Online Guitar Tuner: My Favourite Links

I am learning to play the guitar and recently I had to change my guitar strings. While I was able to get that done without too much stress I have been struggling a bit to get my guitar back in tune. I do have a guitar tuner on my guitar but until now I have only needed to use it to make slight adjustments.

Now that I have new strings in place I have had to tune the guitar from scratch and that has been a bit daunting. I want to be able to tune my guitar properly so that I can get back on with learning to play! So I have been looking online for general information about tuning a guitar as well as links that will help me to tune my guitar.

There are quite a few websites out there that do offer an online guitar tuner, and I have been trying a few of them out lately. Some websites provide a guitar tuner that allows you to tune your guitar by ear while others provide a digital guitar tuner. When you use an online digital guitar tuner you need to have a microphone or line-in so that the tuner can hear your guitar.

After spending some time testing out some of these sites I am now going to share my three favourite links to websites which offer a great online guitar tuner.

Guitar Tuner: Tune by Ear

If you don’t have a microphone/line-in on your computer then you will need to use a guitar tuner that allows you to tune your guitar by ear. These tuners will allow you to play a sample of the required note and you can match that note by playing/adjusting the corresponding string on your guitar. I like this type of tuner because I can tune my guitar by ear and also compare the results with the built in tuner on my guitar.

Guitar Tuner: Digital Tuner

If you have a microphone/line-in you can use a digital guitar tuner that will hear the sound of you guitar and display the note that you are playing. You can then tune your guitar strings accordingly until your guitar is properly in tune.
