For these posts I usually like to share a photo of something that I saw in my garden during the previous month. This month I’m sharing a photo of a tromboncino that I took in late October. We grew tromboncino for the first time last summer and they’re going to a regular in our summer vegetable garden from now on! I had never heard of a tromboncino plant until earlier last year. Now I can’t imagine not having some growing in the veggie patch! They’re such a funny looking vegetable; I love the … [Read more...]
Links I Love from October
I like to share a photo from my garden for these posts each month. Usually it’s a photo of something that was going on in the garden during the previous month. This month’s photo is of some of our beautiful bearded irises! These flowered in late October and they looked so pretty. They don’t flower for as long as I’d like but an Instagram friend told me that is because they are in full sun. It is amazing what you can learn on Instagram! Aphids on Roses: Natural & Easy Control Methods
When beautiful spring roses begin to bloom, aphids will usually try to spoil the show. But I have just learnt that getting rid of them is easier than you might think! Since the beginning of spring our rose bushes have really taken off and they are now literally covered in flowers and flower buds. Recently when I was having a closer look at one of the buds I noticed that it was covered in aphids. They were gathering on the new buds and sucking the moisture out of them. They were basically … [Read more...]
