I love the idea of being able to make your own cleaning products. Not just because the homemade version is often cheaper but also because it means that I know exactly what is in the product I am using. One product that I have been making up myself over the last couple of years is a window and mirror cleaner. It is great knowing that it’s non-toxic and because it consists of everyday items that I always have on hand – I never run out. Recently I was wondering about other regular household cleaning products that can be made at home. So I decided to have a look at laundry products and find out which ones that I could possibly make myself.
I was please to find that five of the most commonly used laundry products can be made at home!
When I first started looking for laundry products to make myself I found that many of the recipes were from overseas. This meant that I was not always familiar with some of the ingredients. When necessary, to compensate for this issue, I have included an Australian and a US version of each DIY laundry product!
I also wanted to mention that it is important to check the directions on any DIY laundry product ingredients that you plan to use. This is because I have noticed that some say that they are for a top load washing machine only. I have a front load washing machine so I am used to checking for this!
So here they are:
