5 Laundry Products That You Can Make Yourself

5 Laundry Products That You Can Make Yourself! thelinkssite.comI love the idea of being able to make your own cleaning products. Not just because the homemade version is often cheaper but also because it means that I know exactly what is in the product I am using. One product that I have been making up myself over the last couple of years is a window and mirror cleaner. It is great knowing that it’s non-toxic and because it consists of everyday items that I always have on hand – I never run out. Recently I was wondering about other regular household cleaning products that can be made at home. So I decided to have a look at laundry products and find out which ones that I could possibly make myself.

I was please to find that five of the most commonly used laundry products can be made at home!

When I first started looking for laundry products to make myself I found that many of the recipes were from overseas. This meant that I was not always familiar with some of the ingredients. When necessary, to compensate for this issue, I have included an Australian and a US version of each DIY laundry product!

I also wanted to mention that it is important to check the directions on any DIY laundry product ingredients that you plan to use. This is because I have noticed that some say that they are for a top load washing machine only. I have a front load washing machine so I am used to checking for this!

So here they are:

Five Laundry Products That You Can Make Yourself!

1. Laundry Powder

Australian Version:

I found this pretty easy looking recipe for homemade laundry powder at Yummy Green Mummy.

US Version:

If you live in the US head over to Mom 4 Real for an equally easy looking DIY laundry powder!

2. Laundry Liquid

Australian Version:

If you live in Australian and prefer using laundry liquid check out this homemade version at Down to Earth.

US Version:

Sara at My Merry Messy Life also has a recipe for laundry liquid which includes detailed directions for making and using it!

3. Fabric Softener

Australian Version:

You can also find DIY fabric softener at Yummy Green Mummy, and it is even easier to make than the laundry powder!

US Version:

If you live in the US and want to make your own fabric softener then Heidi at The Frugal Girls has you covered!

4. Stain Remover

Australian Version:

If you would like to make your own stain remover for your clothes check out this recipe at Stay at Home Mum.

US Version:

Or if you’re in the US head over to My Frugal Adventures for a DIY stain remover recipe.

Natural Version:

For an all-natural stain remover recipe have a look at the one I found over at Natural New Age Mum.

5. Dryer Sheets

I have also found a couple of methods for making your own dryer sheets.

 Using Fabric Softener:

Here is a method I found at One Good Thing By Jillee that uses fabric softener.

Using Vinegar:

You can also make drier sheets using vinegar, to see how check out Pop Sugar.

I hope that you’re like me and have been inspired to have a go at making some of your own laundry products! Have you ever tried making your own products like this before? What have you made and how did it turn out?

I would love to hear your stories!
