Slices of cheesecake on blue plate. Whole lemons can be seen in the background.

It tastes so indulgent but this Easy Lemon Cheesecake is quick to prepare and requires no baking. It’s irresistibly creamy, with a delicious lemon flavour. It is starting to feel more and more like spring is on its way each day now, the days have been so nice lately and were are expected to have a top of 20 °C later in the week! It looks like spring is here too with our almond trees covered in beautiful white blossom and the plum and apricot trees almost ready to burst. The milder weather has … [Read more...]

Walnut Raisin Loaf Recipe

Last updated on: January 13, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Breakfast & Brunch, Recipes 27 Comments

I’m a real sucker for any recipe that contains walnuts and raisins. Throw in some apple and cinnamon and I’m in heaven! If you like these favours as much as I do you will love this Walnut Raisin Loaf recipe that I am sharing today. This recipe was actually spotted a few years ago when I was using raisins in another recipe. The packet of Sunbeam raisins that I was using included the walnut raisin loaf recipe and it sounded so good that I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed - it was … [Read more...]

Frosted Choc Orange Cupcakes

Last updated on: June 11, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Cakes & Cupcakes, Recipes Leave a Comment

I love orange cakes and I love chocolate cakes, so when I had some spare oranges lying around I decided I just had to make some of these choc orange cupcakes. Actually the recipe that I adapted was for a single square choc orange cake but I turned it into cupcakes instead! Cupcakes seem a bit more special than just a slice of cake. I suppose it is because I used to enjoy lots of yummy cupcakes when I was a kid. More times than I can remember I used to come home from school and mum would have … [Read more...]

Potato and Pumpkin Soup

Last updated on: July 26, 2023 By Kaylene Filed Under: Recipes, Soup Leave a Comment

I don’t know why it has taken me so long to try pumpkin soup! It’s not like it’s a new concept; people have been making pumpkin soup for years! It’s just not something that I have wanted to try; it always seemed that it would be a bit boring after the first couple of mouthfuls. This year though we have lots of pumpkins in storage so I was determined to try cooking pumpkin soup to see if I would like it. Gee was I surprised at just how good it is and also how easy it is to make! I have to say, … [Read more...]

I love having these Apple Crumble Muffins for breakfast! thelinkssite.com

These apple crumble muffins taste how they sound – like eating yummy apple crumble but in a muffin. Now apple crumble can be a snack not just a dessert! Have you ever bought a baking ingredient just because you like the look of a recipe on the side of the packet? That is something that my family does all the time! We will be looking at packets of cereal, nuts or dried fruit (anything really) and we will see a recipe on the packet that looks really good. We might not have even planned to buy … [Read more...]

No Bake Lemon Coconut Squares

Last updated on: January 30, 2022 By Kaylene Filed Under: Bars, Brownies & Slices, Lemon Recipes, Recipes Leave a Comment

Lemon coconut squares stacked in a bowl.

These lemon coconut squares are so soft and chewy they are fudge-like. They’re sweet with a delicious lemon tang and so easy to make - no baking required! One dessert flavour that I often get a craving for is lemon. I don’t know what it is about it but more often than not when I have a craving for something sweet it will be for lemon meringue pie or lemon slice or (OMG don’t say it) lemon cheesecake! I even have a Pinterest board devoted to lemon treats! I have to stay away from many of these … [Read more...]

Easter Inspired Fruit Loaf

Last updated on: February 21, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Breads, Breakfast & Brunch, Easter, Holidays, Holidays & Special Occasions, Recipes Leave a Comment

This fruit loaf is wonderful fresh or you can enjoy it toasted for breakfast! thelinkssite.com

This Easter inspired fruit loaf recipe will have you enjoying the yummy sweet taste of homemade hot cross buns all year round! I actually find it strange that I am sharing a recipe for a fruit loaf, because frankly I haven’t been a fan of fruit buns or loaves for some time. I remember enjoying yummy, pink icing covered, fruit buns from the bakery when I was a kid but I haven’t had one like that for years. They just don’t seem to make them as good as they used to, I haven’t eaten a hot cross … [Read more...]

Munchies Recipe – Childhood Favourite!

Last updated on: June 21, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Cookies & Biscuits, Recipes Leave a Comment

There is something so right about a biscuit or cookie that includes rolled oats, coconut and golden syrup. I just can’t resist this favour combination. The recipe that I am sharing today is for cookie-like snacks called Munchies, which contain all three of these ingredients. They were a regular treat when I was a kid. My brother and I would get home from school and Mum would have a batch of Munchies freshly baked! We used to love watching our favourite cartoons while snacking on these home … [Read more...]
