Delicious Mini Hot Cross Buns

Last updated on: March 31, 2021 By Kaylene Filed Under: Breads, Easter, Holidays & Special Occasions, Recipes Leave a Comment

Buns are shown still joined together on baking paper and on a cooling rack.

The whole family will love these soft and fluffy Mini Hot Cross Buns fresh from the oven! They are so hard to resist with their delicious fruitiness and yummy spices. In the past I have never been a big fan of hot cross buns; or fruit buns of any description actually! I’m not sure why I didn’t like them, but as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate their fruitiness and the yummy spices. Mostly I love homemade hot cross buns. The store-bought ones are okay but homemade is so much better. … [Read more...]

These Easter Goodie Bags look so much more personal than pre boxed Easter eggs! thelinkssite.com

These last minute Easter Goodie Bags are super easy to put together but they look so much more personal than pre boxed Easter eggs! Normally I give my nieces and nephews some pre boxed Easter eggs for Easter. But this year I wanted to make their Easter gifts look a little more personal.  I didn’t want to go to a lot of expense though because I know they will be more interested in the chocolate than the wrapping! Plus I already had some Easter eggs of various sizes I just need to work … [Read more...]

Sweet Homemade Gift for Mother’s Day

Last updated on: May 1, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Craft, Decorations/Gifts, Family, Holidays, Mother's Day Leave a Comment

Looking down into the top of a plastic container that is filled with Éclair lollies. The container is decorated with washi tape and extra lollies are scattered around the outside. A gift tag address to Mum is attached with twine.

In just a few minutes you can turn an empty container into a beautiful homemade gift for mum that is filled with her favourite sweets! I am not really a yogurt lover but I have been eating a bit of the Jalna pot set yoghurt lately. It’s mainly to boost my calcium intake a bit because I don’t eat a lot of other dairy. I’ve never liked yoghurt in the past but now I am starting to get a bit of a taste for the creamy vanilla flavour! Apart from boosting my calcium intake my yoghurt consumption … [Read more...]

Try these Chocolate Chunk Cookie Bars for a quick, easy, and delicious Easter treat! thelinkssite.com

I have wanted to share this recipe for cookie bars for a while now but just haven’t got around to it. I made them a while ago without the Easter eggs and thought that they were wonderful. It’s just basically my easy chocolate chip cookie recipe turned into cookie bars! I was inspired to make the Easter version when I saw this Easter Egg Slice by Sammie at The Annoyed Thyroid. I loved the idea of M&M speckled eggs pushed into the top so I borrowed that idea for these cookie bars. These … [Read more...]

Easy Washi Tape Mother’s Day Vase

Last updated on: April 24, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Craft, Decorations/Gifts, Family, Holidays, Mother's Day Leave a Comment

Vase made from a clear glass jar that has been decorated with washi tape in shades of pink and purple. The vase is filled with white chrysanthemums and pink carnations. A small ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ gift tag is attached with pink curling ribbon.

This weekend is Mother’s Day and I wanted to make a personalised gift for my mum this year. The first present that came to mind that I know that she will absolutely love (as do most mothers) is flowers. My mum is especially into flower because her hobby is floral arranging.  I pretty much know that if I give here anything to do with flowers it will be a hit! This year I thought rather than just giving her a bunch of flowers I would make a Mother’s Day vase that I could fill with flowers for … [Read more...]

Don’t buy Christmas wine glasses! Turn ordinary wine glasses into cute Christmas wine glasses in a flash. This method is quick, easy, and cheap! Easter Inspired Fruit Loaf

This fruit loaf is wonderful fresh or you can enjoy it toasted for breakfast! thelinkssite.com

This Easter inspired fruit loaf recipe will have you enjoying the yummy sweet taste of homemade hot cross buns all year round! I actually find it strange that I am sharing a recipe for a fruit loaf, because frankly I haven’t been a fan of fruit buns or loaves for some time. I remember enjoying yummy, pink icing covered, fruit buns from the bakery when I was a kid but I haven’t had one like that for years. They just don’t seem to make them as good as they used to, I haven’t eaten a hot cross … [Read more...]
