Last year over summer we dug up the garlic patch and because it had multiplied so much we had lots to use. As a result this year we have never eaten so much garlic! Once we realised that we were starting to go through a lot of garlic we planted a few cloves back into the garden so we could get more to replenish our stocks.
I have loved adding it to pasta sauces and I have found that I can’t make a homemade pizza without adding some chopped garlic. Until this year I was never much of a garlic eater but I must say I certainly am now!

I planted out some of my garlic cloves as well as some cloves that were bought from the supermarket. I wasn’t sure if the store bought ones would grow but they did and I will be interest to see what sized bulbs they produce. I’m not too fussed about how much of the store bought garlic we get because I prefer the flavour of my own home grown garlic. I find that the flavour of my home grown garlic is strong but not too overpowering.

So far my garlic looks really healthy and I can’t wait to see them die back so that I can get in and harvest the bulbs. It is very tempting to have a dig around at the base and see what the bulbs look like but I have resisted 🙂
Anyway I have collected a few great links that have helped me with my knowledge of growing garlic. I will share these useful links below.

There doesn’t seem to be a real lot to growing garlic. If you keep your plants weeded and fed throughout the growing season then they should be pretty happy. I think the above links are great to give a bit more understanding to anyone who is new to growing garlic.
Be sure to check out the above links if you want to maximise your garlic crop. Who knows you might just get some tips too!
