The weather has been up and down these last few weeks. We had hot days and hot nights towards the end of November but the start of December has been quite cool. We have had plenty of rain over the last few weeks too. That has been good for the garden but unfortunately the weeds have enjoyed the rain as well. So we have still been weeding when we have normally finished our springtime weeding by now! We’ve got some tromboncino plants growing in the veggie garden this year. We decided to grow … [Read more...]
Links I Love from October
I like to share a photo from my garden for these posts each month. Usually it’s a photo of something that was going on in the garden during the previous month. This month’s photo is of some of our beautiful bearded irises! These flowered in late October and they looked so pretty. They don’t flower for as long as I’d like but an Instagram friend told me that is because they are in full sun. It is amazing what you can learn on Instagram! Actually these irises are planted along a fence at the … [Read more...]
DIY Spooky Halloween Candles (Quick and Easy!)
These DIY Halloween candles are great for a simple last minute Halloween decoration because they’re so very quick and easy to make! We never celebrated Halloween when I was a kid. We might have had some decorations up at school but that was about it. That’s because Halloween wasn’t a big thing in Australia back then so there was not much made of it. Celebrating Halloween is much more popular nowadays. I saw quite a few kids out trick or treating last year which was fun. This year might be … [Read more...]
Links I Love from September
Even though this month’s Links I Love post is looking back at September I am definitely looking forward to summer. Warmer days spent in the garden are fast approaching and with that comes some delicious home grown fruit! Our plum and apricot trees blossomed a few weeks ago but the apple trees are just bursting into flower now! I took the above photo a few days ago of our granny smith apple tree with the apricot tree in the background. I just love how the apple blossom is pink when in bud and … [Read more...]

If you are looking for baking ideas, craft inspiration, or gardening tips you will want to check out the cool links that I found during March! I just love the wonderful mild weather that we are having at the moment. It is getting quite cool in the evenings but most days it is nice and sunny. If we can’t get any rain at least it’s sunny! With the cooler weather our summer vegetables are slowly dying back. The zucchinis are finished, the tomatoes are almost done, and the cucumbers are dying … [Read more...]
Links I Love from February
If you are looking for inspiration in the kitchen or ideas for awesome crafts check out the cool links that I found during February. We are officially into autumn now but you wouldn’t know it with our current weather! We are smack bang in the middle of a heat wave at the moment; the lowest temperature predicted over the next four days is 37 degrees Celsius (that’s 99 degrees Fahrenheit)! I don’t mind it if it is hot during the day but it is the hot nights that are unbearable! Now that I … [Read more...]
Links I Love from January
There are some really great websites out there that share some amazing ideas. Here are some of my favourite Links from January 2016. Well we are well and truly into February and the while the weather is still hot we are getting cooler nights which are quite nice. The nights have been wonderful for having a BBQ dinner outside so we will be making the most of that before the weather changes! Another thing that we have been enjoying lately is some fresh watermelon from the garden! We have … [Read more...]
Links I Love from December
Happy New Year and welcome to back to my latest Links I Love post where I will be looking back at some of my favourite links from December! I hope that you all enjoyed the festive season and are having a great start to 2016. We had a hot Christmas Day so lots of salads, chilled desserts, and ice cold drinks were on the menu. It was also a warm end to December with New Year’s Eve being 39 °C (102 °F)! As I post this today we are heading to a top of 42 °C (108 °F) which is really giving the … [Read more...]
