The whole family will love making and decorating the tree with these gorgeous Paper Christmas Decorations. They are so easy to make from coloured A4 paper!
It seems to be a bit harder to get into the Christmas spirit this year. I don’t know why but everyone I talk to says the same thing. I think that it has something to do with the cool summer that we have been having so far. Normally we have experienced a heat wave or two in the lead up to Christmas but this year the weather has been very mild!
To help me get into the Christmas Spirit I decided to make up some of my own paper Christmas decorations. I found this link a while ago and I was determined to have a go at making some. It was so much fun because I haven’t made paper Christmas decorations for years!
What I love about these Christmas decorations is that they look gorgeous but they’re really easy to make. I didn’t have to go out and buy any special craft supplies to make them. Everything I needed was in the cupboard – even the coloured paper!
I made one in plain white first but then decided that they would look great in multi-coloured Christmas colours. I think they look great hanging on the tree but you could also join them together to make a garland. They’re also sturdy enough to stand up on their own so you could arrange them on a shelf or mantle.
How to Make These Gorgeous Paper Christmas Decorations
You will need:
coloured A4 paper
ruler and pencil
paper trimmer or scissors
stapler
double sided tape
string etc. to hang
Method:
Cut your chosen coloured A4 sheets into 2cm strips so that they measure 2cm x 21cm (I made mine 2cm wide because that was just slightly wider than the width of my double sided tape).
Lay 10 of the strips on top of each other, alternating the colours as you go.
Staple the strips together as close to the middle as your stapler will allow (my stapler will allow me to staple 8cm from the edge).
If one end of the strips is longer, trim it so that you have the same length on either side of the staple.
Place a small piece (2-3mm) of double sided tape at one end of the strips then loop that strip inwards and stick it down so that it meets the staple in the middle.
Add tape to the next layer and again loop into the middle and stick it down.
Continue this with each strip until you have half a circle of loops.
When you begin the second half, put some double sided tape on the underside of the next strip and loop it over and stick it to the last loop.
Now continue as you did before and stick the tape to the top of the next strip and loop it over.
Continue this for the rest of the strips until you have a full circle.
Use some string, cotton, or clear jelly elastic to hang your paper Christmas decorations!
