Merry Christmas 2018

Wishing all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year! Well Christmas is upon us and it is going to hot here according to the forecast! Actually we’re in for a heatwave over the next week. Nothing under 37°C (98°F) and up to 41°C (105°F) in the coming days. So it will be cold meats and salads for us on Christmas day! Thankfully we usually do most of our cooking on Christmas Eve – it’s often too hot on Christmas day! Actually as I write this the Christmas pudding is … [Read more...]

Easy Steamed Christmas Plum Pudding

Last updated on: October 12, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Christmas, Desserts, Holidays & Special Occasions, Recipes 2 Comments

This plum pudding is packed with fruit and is nice and rich just like a Christmas pudding should be! thelinkssite.com

One of my favourite things about Christmas is being able to have some Christmas plum pudding! There is nothing better on Christmas day than topping a big piece of plum pudding with some cream and ice cream. Some will add custard too, but I’m not a big custard fan! ;) The Christmas puddings we had when I was kid were usually store bought ones but I loved them anyway. It was a taste that we only had on Christmas so cutting the plum pudding was very exciting! Over the years I have fallen out … [Read more...]

Merry Christmas from The Links Site

I’d like to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe New Year! It is going to be a beautiful day, weather wise for Christmas this year. It will be about 28 °C (82 °F) here which is cool enough that we can enjoy a hot Christmas lunch but it won’t be too cold. We will be able to have a lovely Christmas lunch outside under our veranda (patio). Because it’s not going to be too hot we will be having some roast meats and vegetables. Plus this year I have made a … [Read more...]

The whole family will love making and decorating the tree with these gorgeous Paper Christmas Decorations. They are so easy to make from coloured A4 paper! It seems to be a bit harder to get into the Christmas spirit this year. I don’t know why but everyone I talk to says the same thing. I think that it has something to do with the cool summer that we have been having so far. Normally we have experienced a heat wave or two in the lead up to Christmas but this year the weather has been very … [Read more...]

Crunchy Nut Honey Joys with M&M’s!

Last updated on: October 27, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Christmas, Holidays & Special Occasions, Recipes Leave a Comment

It’s a while since I have eaten honey joys; they used to be one of my favourite snacks as a kid! We didn’t have them all the time, but at birthday’s and school fetes they always made an appearance. Honey joys are a delicious sweet, crunchy treat and they are also quick and easy to make. Regular honey joys are made with plain Cornflakes but I decided to use Crunchy Nut Cornflakes just to give them a subtle twist. Traditionally honey joys don’t have any chocolate in them either. But I wanted … [Read more...]

Sweet Homemade Gift for Mother’s Day

Last updated on: May 1, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Craft, Decorations/Gifts, Family, Holidays, Mother's Day Leave a Comment

Looking down into the top of a plastic container that is filled with Éclair lollies. The container is decorated with washi tape and extra lollies are scattered around the outside. A gift tag address to Mum is attached with twine.

In just a few minutes you can turn an empty container into a beautiful homemade gift for mum that is filled with her favourite sweets! I am not really a yogurt lover but I have been eating a bit of the Jalna pot set yoghurt lately. It’s mainly to boost my calcium intake a bit because I don’t eat a lot of other dairy. I’ve never liked yoghurt in the past but now I am starting to get a bit of a taste for the creamy vanilla flavour! Apart from boosting my calcium intake my yoghurt consumption … [Read more...]
