Last updated on: December 1, 2021 By Kaylene Filed Under: Christmas, Craft, Decorations/Gifts, DIY 4 Comments

The whole family will love making and decorating the tree with these gorgeous Paper Christmas Decorations. They are so easy to make from coloured A4 paper! It seems to be a bit harder to get into the Christmas spirit this year. I don’t know why but everyone I talk to says the same thing. I think that it has something to do with the cool summer that we have been having so far. Normally we have experienced a heat wave or two in the lead up to Christmas but this year the weather has been very … [Read more...]

Sweet Homemade Gift for Mother’s Day

Last updated on: May 1, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Craft, Decorations/Gifts, Family, Holidays, Mother's Day Leave a Comment

Looking down into the top of a plastic container that is filled with Éclair lollies. The container is decorated with washi tape and extra lollies are scattered around the outside. A gift tag address to Mum is attached with twine.

In just a few minutes you can turn an empty container into a beautiful homemade gift for mum that is filled with her favourite sweets! I am not really a yogurt lover but I have been eating a bit of the Jalna pot set yoghurt lately. It’s mainly to boost my calcium intake a bit because I don’t eat a lot of other dairy. I’ve never liked yoghurt in the past but now I am starting to get a bit of a taste for the creamy vanilla flavour! Apart from boosting my calcium intake my yoghurt consumption … [Read more...]

Cute Printable Labels for Preserves

Last updated on: September 26, 2016 By Kaylene Filed Under: Decorations/Gifts, Kitchen Hints 2 Comments

We have just recently harvested the last of the beetroot that we planted towards the end of summer and we have managed to preserve a few jars! It is wonderful to know that we can continue enjoying it over the winter. Now that we have tried home grown beetroot we definitely prefer it over the bought canned variety. After putting so much effort into growing and then preserving the beetroot I wanted to make the jars look nice with some fancy printable labels! I had a look online but I could not … [Read more...]

Easy Washi Tape Mother’s Day Vase

Last updated on: April 24, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Craft, Decorations/Gifts, Family, Holidays, Mother's Day Leave a Comment

Vase made from a clear glass jar that has been decorated with washi tape in shades of pink and purple. The vase is filled with white chrysanthemums and pink carnations. A small ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ gift tag is attached with pink curling ribbon.

This weekend is Mother’s Day and I wanted to make a personalised gift for my mum this year. The first present that came to mind that I know that she will absolutely love (as do most mothers) is flowers. My mum is especially into flower because her hobby is floral arranging.  I pretty much know that if I give here anything to do with flowers it will be a hit! This year I thought rather than just giving her a bunch of flowers I would make a Mother’s Day vase that I could fill with flowers for … [Read more...]

DIY Christmas Lights Design

Last updated on: December 12, 2013 By Kaylene Filed Under: Christmas, Decorations/Gifts, Holidays 3 Comments

Christmas lights with a seasonal shape don’t have to cost a fortune. It’s possible to use string lights and garden trellis for a striking Christmas display. Putting up Christmas lights in early December has always been a bit of a tradition in our family. When I was little I remember barely being able to contain my excitement when Dad would get out our set of Christmas lights! It was such torture to have to wait until dark to turn them on! Some houses in our town would go all out with their … [Read more...]

Collage made up of four pictures of homemade advent calendars. The calendars have been made using toilet rolls and colourful paper. Text overlay says: 10 Quick & Easy Homemade Advent Calendar Ideas.

A great homemade advent calendar doesn’t have to be hard to make. Here are 10 advent calendars that are quick & easy. Some can even be made from recycled everyday items! I don’t remember having advent calendars when I was little. They may have been around but I don’t think that they were as popular as they are now.  Anyway the first memory that I have of an advent calendar is seeing the commercial ones in the supermarket. You know the ones where you open the tab up each day and get a … [Read more...]
