Cat toy storage can be an issue when you have multiple cats and lots of toys in the house. We found a simple solution to cat toy storage that complements our décor! The cats that we had years ago spent a lot of time outside, so they didn’t have many toys. Nowadays our cats spend more time inside. Firstly, because our local council has a cat curfew at night, but also because we have installed cat nets to limit how far they can roam. We installed the cat nets a few years back after one of … [Read more...]
Dainty Swallowtail Butterfly Update
It has been almost a year since I first learnt about the dainty swallowtail butterfly. Last summer this beautiful butterfly could be seen fluttering around our vegetable garden where we had planted some zinnias. The butterflies laid their eggs on our citrus trees and we were lucky enough to find several growing caterpillars. In an attempt to ensure their survival they were collected and kept in a large storage contain that I had set up to house them. You can read about it … [Read more...]
Dainty Swallowtail Butterflies in My Garden (And My House!)

National Pet Adoption Day
I could not let today pass without writing a post in support of National Pet Adoption Day. This event is one that is close to my heart, and that of my family, because we welcomed two adopted cats into our home a little over 12 months ago. Pet ownership is not for everyone but after our experience I would urge anyone who is contemplating getting at pet to consider adopting one from one of the many animal shelters around the country. The idea of getting a new kitten or puppy from a breeder or … [Read more...]
