Cat toy storage can be an issue when you have multiple cats and lots of toys in the house. We found a simple solution to cat toy storage that complements our décor! The cats that we had years ago spent a lot of time outside, so they didn’t have many toys. Nowadays our cats spend more time inside. Firstly, because our local council has a cat curfew at night, but also because we have installed cat nets to limit how far they can roam. We installed the cat nets a few years back after one of … [Read more...]
How to Grow Cat Grass from a Surprisingly Simple Source of Seeds!
We adopted our two cats (Maddy and Wally) almost five year ago now and they have always been fond of eating some grass. Initially we didn’t have actual cat grass. Instead the cats would eat some of the grassy weeds that would inevitably pop up here and there. They also liked to munch on some of the longer buffalo grass in the lawn. A couple of years ago we purchased a pot of cat grass to give them another source of grass to munch on. But to say that it wasn’t very popular would be an … [Read more...]

National Pet Adoption Day
I could not let today pass without writing a post in support of National Pet Adoption Day. This event is one that is close to my heart, and that of my family, because we welcomed two adopted cats into our home a little over 12 months ago. Pet ownership is not for everyone but after our experience I would urge anyone who is contemplating getting at pet to consider adopting one from one of the many animal shelters around the country. The idea of getting a new kitten or puppy from a breeder or … [Read more...]
My Tips for Enforcing a Cat Curfew
We have had our two cats, Maddy and Wally which were adopted from the RSPCA, for a little over six months. It took a while but now they have settled into a routine of coming inside just as the sun is setting. We do this because we have a cat curfew in our area that states that all cats must be kept indoors between sunset and sunrise. We struggled at first, spending time most evenings trying to coax the cats inside after dark. Wally was probably the worst because he just loves being outside … [Read more...]
Mice as Pets: What you Need to Know for Success
When I got my first pet mice I was looking for a pet that would not require a 10 – 15 year commitment. Don’t get me wrong I love dogs and cats but at the time I was not able to commit to a decade or more of pet care. Getting pet mice was an ideal compromise because the mice were very cute and fun to play with but I knew that they only had a short live span of one to three years. I would really recommend pet mice to anyone who wants a pet but can’t make a long term commitment or even if they … [Read more...]
