Guitar with built in guitar tuner

I am learning to play the guitar and recently I had to change my guitar strings. While I was able to get that done without too much stress I have been struggling a bit to get my guitar back in tune. I do have a guitar tuner on my guitar but until now I have only needed to use it to make slight adjustments.   Now that I have new strings in place I have had to tune the guitar from scratch and that has been a bit daunting. I want to be able to tune my guitar properly so that I can get … [Read more...]

How to Change Guitar Strings

Last updated on: July 24, 2013 By Kaylene Filed Under: Misc, Music 4 Comments

I am only still learning to play the guitar so when one of my strings snapped I started to worry because I didn’t know how to change guitar strings. Initially I thought that I would only have to replace the one string that was broken but after reading up on the subject I found out that it is best to change all of the strings so that you get a more balanced sound.   To be perfectly honest the string broke some time back and despite buying a new set of strings I have put off changing … [Read more...]

Sewing on buttons is something that everyone should know how to do. Chances are at some stage a button on your favourite garment will pop off when you least expect it. Plus, often when the button pops off it is just when you need to wear the outfit and therefore you will need to repair it in a hurry. Taking the piece of clothing to a tailor just to have the button replaced would be very expensive!   Sewing on buttons is not something that I have to do very often so I found that the … [Read more...]

Last updated on: March 19, 2017 By Kaylene Filed Under: Automotive, Cars, Misc Leave a Comment

Using a trailer reversing simulator is a great way to practice before you hop behind the wheel. thelinkssite.com

I don’t have to do trailer reversing very often but when I do the thing that really worries me is getting the trailer to go the right way! I have never been able to work out the link between the direction I am steering and the direction the trailer ultimately goes. It’s as if the trailer has a mind of its own! If you have ever reversed a trailer you know what I mean. Once you have started to get the trailer turning and then you try to correct the movement that is usually when things start to … [Read more...]

How To Remove A Corroded Battery From A Torch/Flashlight

Last updated on: July 24, 2013 By Kaylene Filed Under: Cleaning, Home Maintenance, Misc 2 Comments

While cleaning recently I came across a torch that I had forgotten about. It wouldn’t turn on so I unscrewed the end of the battery chamber and found a very badly corroded battery. It looked like it had corroded onto the inside of the torch. I tried to wiggle the battery out gently with a small screwdriver but it was stuck and wouldn’t move at all. I was just about to give up and throw the torch away but decided to have a quick look online first to see if anyone had posted a solution to this … [Read more...]

Last updated on: November 16, 2013 By Kaylene Filed Under: Clothing 1 Comment

Whether we like it or not, for many of us, tying a necktie is something that we have to learn at some point in our lives.  Some will learn earlier than others. For instance a child attending private school might need to learn to tie a tie at a very young age, while others might not need to learn until adulthood. No matter how old you are, when you need to learn, tying a necktie can be a daunting task if you have never done it before. When starting out you need clear step wise instructions … [Read more...]

Jewellery Cleaning: Doing it Safely at Home

Last updated on: November 16, 2013 By Kaylene Filed Under: Cleaning, Jewellery Leave a Comment

I was disappointed when I used store bought jewellery cleaner and then found that my jewellery still didn’t look clean. I then started to wonder whether or not I could find some do it yourself recipes online for jewellery cleaner.   I found many sites that suggested the use of detergent mixtures. Many proposed mixtures contained baking soda, salt and/or ammonia in various combinations and I also found several sights that recommended the use of toothpaste.   I started to … [Read more...]
