All Natural Way to Clean Limescale from Taps

Last updated on: April 24, 2016 By Kaylene Filed Under: Bathroom, Cleaning, DIY, Home Maintenance, How To, Taps Leave a Comment

Best (all natural) way to clean limescale from taps! The white chalky build up around the bathroom and laundry taps can be very frustrating. This white build up is actually limescale deposits that have built up over time where hard water has dried.

I find it very annoying when I spend time getting the bathroom taps nice and clean only to find that the white chalky marks have reappeared when they are dry! It is worse when you have a dark colored taps like I do (they are very old and hopefully will be replaced in the near future). The limescale deposits really stand out on my taps!

Recently came across this link on Pinterest that used plain old vinegar to get rid of limescale. I thought that this had to be too good to be true but to my surprise it wasn’t. Just the other day I tried it on one of my worst effected taps and was amazed at the result. The limescale deposits cleaned off very easily – so I knew that I had to share this cleaning tip!

My taps look so much better after this simple treatment to remove the limescale!

How to Clean Limescale Deposits from Taps

Materials:

White vinegar

Cleaning cloth (I used a Chux cloth)

Method:

Place a small amount of white vinegar into a small bowl or old plastic container and then add the cleaning cloth.

Allow the cloth to become saturated in the vinegar, adding more if necessary.

Wrap the cloth around the tap as tightly as possible so that it makes good contact with the limescale. I had a small amount of vinegar left in my container so I also poured it over the top of the wrapped tap.

Leave the cloth wrapped around the tap for at least an hour. It is fine to leave it longer, I left mine for around 6 hours as I was busy doing other things.

This is the easiest way to clean limescale from around your taps!

Remove the cloth and give the tap a rub to remove the now loose limescale.

Rinse tap with water and dry with a towel and you’re done!

Before and after - how I removed the limescale from around my taps without harsh chemicals!

I cannot believe how easy it was to remove the horrible white limescale with just vinegar! The best part is that there is no need for lots of rubbing or scrubbing! This is one cleaning tip that I won’t forget in a hurry!
