Links I Love from May

The first few months of the year have been so dry in the garden; we didn’t know when we would be able to take a break from watering! We had to wait until May (last month of autumn!) to get some decent rain. It’s so good to hear the sound of rain on the roof and know that the WHOLE garden is getting a good drink.

One downside of getting good rain is that the moisture starts the weeds growing. So now I’ll have to be on my toes and check the garden beds for weeds regularly. It’s tempting to stay inside this weather but if we let the weeds get too advanced the weeding will only get harder! Thankfully we’ve got plenty of winter vegetables growing and that always helps to draw us out into the garden.

The first link that I want to share is for this Skillet Tomato Chicken Breast Dinner that I saw at Bunny’s Warm Oven. I love how easy this sounds, great for a quick weeknight dinner!

This next link from Karly at Buns In My Oven also sounds like a quick and easy dinner idea. I can’t wait to try her Cheesy Chicken and Rice with Broccoli!

Another recipe that I am keen to try is for these Crispy Smashed Potatoes from Kathy over at Beyond the Chicken Coop. What a delicious way to use small baby potatoes!

On a sweeter note these Cheesecake Brownies that I saw over at Skinnytaste caught my eye last month. These are gluten free and I love that they are fairly low in calories (low for a brownie anyway!)

The final recipe link that I want to share from May is for this Lemon Strawberry Shortcake Cake Roll from Crazy for Crust. We’ve already established that I love sweet lemon recipes, so if you combine that with strawberry shortcake I’m in!

Still on bracelets, how cool is this Safety Pin Bracelet that I saw at Dream a Little Bigger! I love that you could use any bead colours that you like to personalise the look.

The final link that I want to share from May is this article on the Advantages of Growing Heirloom Vegetables that I found at The Gardening Cook. This article resonated with me because I’ve been growing a few heirloom veggies lately and I can’t be happier!
