2 Ingredient Dark Chocolate Coconut Bark

Last updated on: May 20, 2020 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes, Snacks Leave a Comment

Broken up pieces of chocolate bark topped with coconut flakes on a wooden board. In the background there is a glass bowl filled with more chocolate bark.

This delicious 2 ingredient coconut bark is one of the most addictive snacks I have ever made! It is so hard not to keep going back for ‘just one more piece’ – it doesn’t last long in our house! Last year a member of my family was diagnosed with a sulphite allergy. For those who don’t know, sulphites are used as a preservative in a range of products ranging from wine to dried fruits. Lately we’ve been trying to eliminate all sulphite containing products from our pantry. I like to use … [Read more...]

2 Ingredient Fudge Recipe (Made 3 Ways!)

Last updated on: May 14, 2021 By Kaylene Filed Under: Candy, Recipes 2 Comments

Three types of fudge piled onto a white plate. Chocolate fudge in foreground, caramel fudge in the middle and choc caramel fudge in the background.

This 2 ingredient fudge is super quick and easy to make and you don’t need any sweetened condensed milk! Better still you can enjoy it in 3 flavours; caramel, chocolate, and choc caramel! This recipe was actually discovered by accident a few weeks ago.  It came about when I mixed some leftover melted white chocolate buttons with some Hershey’s caramel syrup. I put it in the fridge to set and I thought it would set hard. But to my surprise, once it was cold, it had set in a fudge-like … [Read more...]

Heatwave Busting Summer Snickers Milkshake

Last updated on: October 1, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Desserts, Drinks, Recipes, Snacks Leave a Comment

If you love Snickers bars then you need to try this Snickers milkshake! thelinkssite.com

Looking for a cooling summer ice cream treat? This indulgent Snickers Milkshake is just the thing to cool you down when the mercury starts rising! Oh my goodness it has been an insanely hot summer so far! Most of January was hot but the middle two weeks were the worst. We had 15 days in a row over 30 °C (86 °F) and seven of those were over 40 °C (104 °F)! I love summer but that is just too hot! The only upside to weather that hot is that you get to have lots of cold drinks, ice cream and … [Read more...]

Easy Steamed Christmas Plum Pudding

Last updated on: October 12, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Christmas, Desserts, Holidays & Special Occasions, Recipes Leave a Comment

This plum pudding is packed with fruit and is nice and rich just like a Christmas pudding should be! thelinkssite.com

One of my favourite things about Christmas is being able to have some Christmas plum pudding! There is nothing better on Christmas day than topping a big piece of plum pudding with some cream and ice cream. Some will add custard too, but I’m not a big custard fan! ;) The Christmas puddings we had when I was kid were usually store bought ones but I loved them anyway. It was a taste that we only had on Christmas so cutting the plum pudding was very exciting! Over the years I have fallen out … [Read more...]

Florentine Squares Recipe (Only 5 Ingredients!)

Last updated on: July 2, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Bars, Brownies & Slices, Recipes 2 Comments

I know that I’ll be making these Florentine Squares again – they’re so easy to make! thelinkssite.com

This recipe for Florentine squares is definitely a keeper! They are so quick and easy to whip up and you only need 5 ingredients! Before this year the last time I made Florentines was in high school! They were good to eat but I remember them being a bit fiddly to make. Back then we made traditional Florentines which are round.  This meant that we had to get the right amount of mixture so that the Florentines were all the same size and shape.  Something that I’m not always good at! This … [Read more...]

Easy and Delicious Chocolate Chip Scones

Last updated on: October 15, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Recipes, Scones 18 Comments

These chocolate chip scones are wonderful straight out of the oven but they also freeze well so you can make them ahead of time! thelinkssite.com

Today I am sharing by far the easiest chocolate chip scone recipe that you will ever find. And if you’re after soft and fluffy chocolate chip scones this recipe is definitely the best one going around too! I have to admit I haven’t had too many chocolate chip scones in my lifetime. Up till now I have been more of a fruit scone person, maybe raisins, sultanas or mixed dried fruit. I prefer scones with add in’s because it eliminates the need for extra toppings. I often whip up a batch of these … [Read more...]

Delicious Plum or Apple Cake (or whatever fruit you have!)

Last updated on: July 7, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Cakes & Cupcakes, Desserts, Recipes 22 Comments

I love using plums in this cake; the sweetness of the cake and the tartness of the plums just seem to work so well! thelinkssite.com

Make this quick and easy snack/dessert cake using your favourite fruit. It is delicious with plums or apples but you could also use apricots, raspberries, or rhubarb! One of my favourite fruits to bake with would have to be plums. We have a blood plum tree that treats us to sweet juicy plums with a gorgeous dark red flesh. Come summer when it’s really too hot to be baking I’ll still be in the kitchen whipping up some yummy plum treats. My favourites are these Plum Muffins, this wonderful Plum … [Read more...]

Quick and Easy Vanilla Cupcakes

Last updated on: July 5, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Cakes & Cupcakes, Recipes 2 Comments

These vanilla cupcakes are as easy as a boxed mix but they taste twice as good! thelinkssite.com

This recipe for vanilla cupcakes is just as easy as a boxed mix but they taste twice as good! I used to think that when you want to make a basic recipe such as a plain vanilla cupcake there was nothing easier than using a boxed mix. They don’t necessarily taste as good as homemade but they always seemed so much more convenient when you’re in a hurry. I changed my mind however when I came across this vanilla cupcake recipe. Once you try this recipe you’ll say goodbye to the box mix and … [Read more...]
