Making Your Own Christmas Crackers

Last updated on: October 25, 2019 By Kaylene Filed Under: Christmas, Decorations/Gifts Leave a Comment

A red and a gold Christmas cracker placed on a table. Are you sick and tired of the poor quality of store bought Christmas crackers?

The jokes are often the same across multiple crackers, the hats look dreadful when on or they break, and the “gifts” are useless! Usually in my family the whole lot ends up in the bin at the end of the day!

I know that there are more expensive crackers that you can buy but why not make your own instead! This year that is exactly what I intend to do.

Here is a video I found that shows how to quickly and easily whip up a beautiful Christmas cracker!

If you would like some more information and instructions on how to make your own Christmas crackers check out the following links:

I don’t know about you but I’m hopeless at remembering jokes when I need to!  So if you’re stuck for ideas for jokes the two links below will come in handy:

If you want to cheat a little with making your own Christmas crackers why not buy a packet of ready to assemble crackers. They usually come in a pack of six and you can still customise the gift and add some extra decorations to make them more personal!

When I made my crackers I personalised them and added different gifts depending on the recipient. For the kids I put small trinkets like mini key rings, magnets and erasers (caution be careful with small children and small toys!). For the adults I put in a set of four wine charms. I got all these items from a discount store and with packaging removed they were small enough to fit in the crackers! And of course I put a small chocolate in each cracker too!

Here are some of the small gifts that I added to my crackers:

Various small items arranged on a wooden table. The items include; key-rings in the shape of a cow and a dolphin, emoji magnets, and small animal shaped erasers.

Now that you’ve made your own Crackers why not try making some of your own Paper Christmas Decorations too!
